This recent OSR post seems relevant, so I thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention to see what they think. It kind of explains, better than I did, how I feel about the old Garnia maps and they way they seemed more medieval to me.

  1. There's certainly no reason why the players should see an accurate map and plenty of reasons why they shouldn't.

  2. I get that. Sadly, I am also accustomed to fairly accurate and nicely keyed maps, both from my extensive time as a wargamer and from being spoiled by the nice hex maps put out by TSR for both Greyhawk and The Known World (later Mystara), so I really like nice maps. I do agree though that player maps should be vague and often outright inaccurate, and, if I draw them, they probably will be :)
